Overall Role Description:

A busser plays a vital role in the smooth operation of restaurants, cafes, and other food service establishments. Their primary responsibility is to support the front-of-house staff, including servers and hosts, by maintaining a clean and organized dining area for guests.

Busser Job Description & Responsibilities:


1. Table Setup:

Prepare and set up tables with clean linens, utensils, and other necessary items before guests are seated.

2. Table Clearing:

Clear dishes, glasses, and utensils from tables once guests have finished their meals promptly. Stack and carry dirty dishes to the kitchen for cleaning.

3. Opening & Closing Sidework:

Refer to the "Task" list on 7shifts for proper Open & Closing of the restaurant. Check off all completed tasks.

4. Resetting Tables:

Quickly reset tables for the next guests, ensuring that they are clean and properly arranged with appropriate tableware.

5. Water Service:

Routinely refill water glasses and assist with other beverage service tasks as needed.

6. Assisting Servers:

Support servers with various tasks, such as delivering food and drinks to tables, assisting in taking orders, and responding to customer inquiries

7. Cleanliness:

Maintain the cleanliness of the dining area, including sweeping and mopping floors, wiping down tables and chairs, and ensuring that the area is tidy and presentable.

8. Restocking:

Regularly check and restock supplies, including napkins, condiments, and other necessary items.

9. Bussing/Server Stations:

Keep bussing stations and service areas well-organized and stocked with clean tableware and other essential items.

10. Collaboration:

Work closely with the kitchen and serving staff to ensure efficient communication and smooth operations.

11. Customer Service:

Provide friendly and courteous service to guests, assisting with any requests or issues promptly and professionally.

12. Safety and Hygiene:

Adhere to all safety and hygiene standards, including proper handling of dishes, glassware, and cleaning chemicals.

  • Dishwashing: The primary responsibility of a restaurant dishwasher is to wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, flatware, and other kitchen utensils.
