EMPLOYMENT ANNOUNCEMENT Harrisburg is located in the Mid-Willamette Valley between Eugene and Corvallis. 

POSTING DATE:  October 19, 2022

 

POSITION: Probationary- Student Support Assistant, Harrisburg Middle School 

157 contract days per year; 8 contracted hours per day with a 30 minute unpaid lunch.

Harrisburg operates on a 4-day school week M-TH (32 hours a week) with some Fridays.

 

Paid CPI training provided work with Behavioral Room students, and other duties as assigned. This position will be prorated based on the remaining days of the school year.   

 

SALARY RANGE:  $15.30-$21.00 per hour

Placement in column B, of the 2022-2023 classified salary schedule will be commensurate with education and experience, and will follow District policy GCBA.

 

BENEFITS:   Employer paid insurance CAP of $ 1,190 per month to assist with health, dental and vision premiums. In addition, employer paid Basic Life and AD&D policies. Two (2) days of personal leave, ten (10) days sick leave, seven (7) paid holidays, and generous PERS retirement contribution.  Applicable benefits will be prorated for the remainder of the school year. 

 

   

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:    

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Completed application through TalentEd at: https://harrisburg.tedk12.com/hire/index.asp
  • Associates degree, or 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits from a higher education institute, or a score of 80% on a written ParaPro Assessment proficiency exam.
  • Educational Assistant for Special Ed may be required to have knowledge of ADHD, autism, anger and behavior management, and physical health needs in children.
  • Basic computer and office machine skills.
  • Ability to assist teacher with behavior management
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond effectively to questions in one-on-one, small group situations to students and other school staff. Ability to verbally respond to common inquiries from students. Ability to read and interpret instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule or diagram form.
  • Ability to work well with others from diverse backgrounds. Focused on solving conflict, maintaining confidentiality, listening to others, keeping emotions under control, remain opened minded to others ideas and contributing to building a positive team spirit.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work with students.
