Job Summary: Workers are needed from approximately September through October at multiple sites in Jackson County, Oregon. General orchard labor includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks: harvesting fruit, fruit stripping, fruit thinning.
Job Classification: Harvest Picker
Job Duties: The harvest picker picks the pear crop and performs other general orchard labor during the harvest season. Work is performed in an open environment and, at times, during inclement weather. The Harvest Picker position activities include, but not limited to, the following tasks.
- Performing physical activities that require considerable us of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials
- Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops
- Harvesting fruits and Vegetables by hand
- Fruit stripping
- Fruit thinning
- Meet quality and production standards while performing the task of picking/harvesting fresh fruit
- Move/set ladder positions on uneven surfaces
- Place fruit bins in Orchards with assistance
- Follow company policies and procedures including performing daily exercises and adherence to safe work practices
Compensation: $17.97 per hour. Workers will be paid overtime for hours worked over 40 per week.
Employer Note: Temporary housing will be offered to harvest pickers who are not reasonably able to return to their residences at the end of the workday throughout the harvest season. Employees residing in Company-provided housing will be provided with meal service and charged $13.00/employee/day when food service is provided. Company-provided transportation to and from both work and meal service sites will be made available to all employees residing in Company-provided housing.
