Job Overview:
Hartung Glass Industries is looking for a dynamic and goal- oriented Purchasing Agent who has demonstrated abilities to learn and grow in a fast paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for supporting the Company’s Purchasing Department through detailed execution of raw material acquisitions with both domestic and international vendors, analyzing market trends including tariffs, shipping costs, and industry standards, and by maintaining positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
. Requirements:
40% - Oversees the inventory levels of raw materials including, but not limited to, metal, hardware, glass, small parts, and other miscellaneous inventory categories. Responsible for maintaining adequate organization of warehouse storage space through positive working relationships with warehouse personnel, conducting inventory cycle counts/ stock checks, and designing, presenting, and implementing best practices for inventory control.
20% - Producing weekly inventory reports in accordance with Purchasing Department standards. Managing, reviewing, and reconciling any inventory discrepancies to avoid stock- outs and maintain responsible dollar threshold amounts. May include directing the disposal of surplus items and disposition of obsolete parts, materials, or equipment.
20% - Evaluate and issue monthly purchase orders for raw materials under supervision of the Purchasing Manager. Verifying purchase requisitions by comparing purchase order forms to receiving documents and invoices. Quickly identifying and resolving any pricing and quantity discrepancies as needed. Ensuring that invoices are entered properly and submitted for payment in a timely fashion.
10% - Build and maintain supplier relationships to effectively negotiate pricing, quality, and lead-time schedules. Exploring opportunities to have multi- vendor product chains, both domestically and internationally. Constantly evaluating and analyzing supplier sources for effectiveness as well as continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
10% - Budgeting, accounting, and financial tasks including maintaining budgeted inventory levels, developing and implementing cost saving measures, and conserving organization resources.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Purchasing Management, Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of 3 years of procurement or inventory management experience.
Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and mid-to high level skills in Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Passion for results, strategy, and execution. Ability to be a creative and calculated risk taker.
· A strong focus in quality and quantity of work, punctuality, dependability, critical thinking and teamwork.·
Comfortable and adaptable between office and production floor work environments.
- A project manager’s mindset and ability to maintain and manage situations where there has been no prior exposure or no clear road maps set.
