What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Liaison position at Hartwell Corporation?
PURPOSE AND PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITES |
Under general supervision and following standardized procedures, performs a wide range of coordinating, control and expediting tasks to monitor and enhance vendor delivery performance to scheduled delivery dates. Purchases outside processing services used in direct production. |
| ESSENTIAL DUTIES |
| 1. Visit Suppliers Weekly, determined by supplier performance 2. Negotiate expedited lead times 3. Able understand and execute to planned priority. 4. Acts as liaison between purchasing, production control, manufacturing departments and vendors/supplies to ensure on-time delivery of parts and to coordinate schedules in support of operational goals/objectives. 5. Comfortable with seating area on shop floor/ receiving area. 6. May purchase materials used in direct production, such as springs and hardware, perishable tooling and general supplies. 7. Ability to work in fast paced environment / high transactional environment |
| QUALIFICATIONS |
| 1. Must have knowledge of production control procedures, manufacturing operations, and purchase part scheduling requirements. Requires two (2) to three (3) year’s experience in production flow manufacturing environment. 2. Must have one (1) to two (2) years experience in materials procurement. 3. Must be able to read blueprints, negotiate contract terms and conditions and be able to utilize interpersonal skills to enhance supplier relations. 4. Must be able to travel to visit vendors/suppliers. |
| WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS |
| 1. Works primarily in a manufacturing environment with frequent trips to outside vendors/suppliers (approximately 20%). 2. The employee answers telephone calls and occasionally bends, reaches and pushes boxes of parts. Moves within the manufacturing plant and office to collect, deliver parts and copy documents. Finger dexterity is required to operate computer keyboard and calculator. 3. Occasional exposure to noise, fumes and dust on production floor; exposed to hazards of commercial traffic; occasional lifting of material up to 50 pounds. |
