Harvard Resource Solutions is seeking a Junior Buyer on a direct hire basis for their automotive supplier client in Detroit, MI.
Responsibilities of the Junior Buyer:
- Collaborate with departments (sales, operations, finance) to support procurement needs.
- Research suppliers and obtain quotes to assist with selection based on cost and quality.
- Create and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain supplier relationships through communication and issue resolution.
- Work with Inventory Control to help monitor stock levels and prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Assist in ensuring purchased goods meet quality standards, coordinating with the team on any issues.
- Support the Purchasing Manager in tracking supplier performance.
- Adhere to procurement policies and ethical standards.
Skills of the Junior Buyer:
- Basic purchasing experience or exposure to a similar role.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Requirements of the Junior Buyer:
- Associate degree or equivalent experience.
- 1-2 years of experience in purchasing or a related field.
- Familiarity with ERP and MRP systems is a plus.
