The Role: The Community Engagement Manager - Corporations, Businesses & Special Projects is responsible for strategy development, engagement, implementation and evaluation of volunteer engagement and food/fund drive programs with corporate and business groups and other special projects.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Harvesters' community engagement programs and special projects to cultivate increased community engagement through volunteering and food drives, and to support hunger advocacy goals; develop and implement strategies to increase external speaking opportunities and awareness of regional hunger issues.
- Responsible for raising more than $1,000,000 annually through food/fund drives for this constituent base, including off-site and special events and community-wide drives.
- Lead interaction with our Volunteer Engagement Center as needed to ensure the best possible experience for corporate and business volunteers.
- Serve as the lead manager on the Community Engagement team regarding the use of Navision (Food donation database) and Raiser's Edge (Financial donation database) to capture accurate data.
- Serve as a lead manager operating organization's peer-to-peer fundraising platform, TeamRaiser in Luminate Online, to create new events, mentor and cultivate team captains and support donor/user experience with Harvesters' virtual food drives.
- Work regularly with the our Kansas Distribution Center staff on corporate opportunities that impact both locations.
- Work with appropriate managers in Fund Development to ensure an integrated, coordinated approach on engagement strategies for corporations and businesses.
- Work with Community Engagement Manager - Individuals and & Organizations on development and execution of hunger education and service-learning materials for corporate and business groups.
- While not an "on-call" position, this position regularly supervises positions with normal work schedules covering 56 hours per week, as well as special events that could require attention outside of normal work hours.
- Often serve as Manager-On-Duty with responsibility for staff and numerous volunteers at any given time.
- This position includes occasionally driving and operating a cargo van with a lift gate and other related equipment and requires moderate lifting.
- This position's normal work schedule is Tuesday - Saturday.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant work experience
- Some fund development, special event or equivalent experience; solicitation experience
- Effectively communicate and interact with all food/fund drive sponsors, donors, the media, volunteers, coworkers, and the general public.
- Able to multi-task and collaborate to achieve goals in a lively office environment.
- Develop budget, track expenditures, and participate in strategic planning process.
- Produce high quality and effective volunteer and food/fund drive engagement opportunities with limited resources.
- This position requires an understanding of all Harvesters food safety policies and compliance with all food safety related procedures.
- Digital literacy
- Class E License if a MO resident
Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree in Non-Profit Management, Business, Communications or equivalent
- 1-3 years documented success in volunteer engagement, fund development, special event or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of Kansas City's philanthropic community.
- Experience with non-profit volunteer engagement
