GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Administrative Assistant is responsible for working directly in an administrative support role and provides support to CBMS administration and staff as needed. This position also provides front office support including, but not limited to answering phones, taking messages, directing calls, coordinating general school office operations, and greeting and attending to school visitors, school staff, and student requests. This is a year-round position of 260 days, including summer and school vacations. Crossett Brook Middle School is a 5-8 school in the Duxbury, minutes from I-89 exit 10, with a fun, dynamic staff and awesome students and families!KNOWLEDGE: Requires knowledge of general school office or a professional office environment.
Requires knowledge of technology in the areas of office software, electronic communication, database systems, word processing, spreadsheets, and office equipment operation; i.e., phones, calculator, fax, postage machine and copier. Accounting practices and math skills is mandatory. Working with budgets beneficial.SKILLS: Requires strong service-related people skills and problem solving skills as this position is a primary contact and has significant responsibility in representing the school. Requires strong verbal and written communication skills due to interaction with the general public, school personnel, state agencies, and other agencies on a regular basis.
Requires strong, positive interpersonal relationship skills between students, staff, parents, and community members. Requires strong organizational skills to balance demands of a multi-tasking position. Requires strong technology skills in the areas of office software, electronic communication, database systems, word processing, spreadsheets, and office equipment operation; i.e., phones, fax, calculator, postage machine and copier.ABILITIES: Requires extraordinary attention to detail, problem solving, flexibility and the ability to attend to multiple things at once.Requires conscientious follow through to meet deadlines and commitments, attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all areas.
