Responsibilities and Duties: Work with the VP for Student Access, Enrollment and Performance as the liaison between the Music Program and the Office of Admissions to implement a comprehensive recruitment and retention plan for both prospective music majors and students in other disciplines wishing to participate in music (band and choir) at Hastings College. This plan will influence music students to visit campus, apply, complete application, file financial aid, deposit, enroll and retain at Hastings College.
Essential Functions:
- The position requires quickly gaining familiarity with the academic/artistic offerings of HC and its Music Program to effectively answer questions of prospective students.
- Support the academic department where aligned, and teach within the department where appropriately credentialed (with the support of the department chair).
- Develop and make presentations to support recruitment efforts.
- Visit high schools, classrooms, serve as guest clinician, etc. to routinely network with and seek referrals from (including but not limited to), high school counselors, administrators, teachers, directors and alumni.
- Schedule and host campus music visits, arrange audition day schedules and events, and assist in the planning and implementation of special events both on and off campus.
- Maintain knowledge in financial aid, including institutional resources and federal financial aid programs.
- Manage databases and track prospect data (applications, awards, deposits) through the use of various computer/data systems. Run queries using Slate Admission/Enrollment Management software.
- Assist in the development of marketing materials specifically used for enrollment purposes (both print and web).
- Participate and suggest professional development activities that could help meet the College’s enrollment goals.
- Support the academic department in the retention of students within the department and activity.
- Travel will be expected and non-standard hours will be required, including evenings and weekends.
General Department Duties including, but not limited to:
- Learn to use/operate any new job related programs and equipment.
- Participate in designated meetings and mandatory training sessions.
- Consistently model a high degree of customer service and student focus.
- Work collaboratively and support other team members.
- Professionally represent Hastings College at all times.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have earned a Master’s Degree in Music, DMA or equivalent preferred; experience in marketing, public relations, public speaking and customer service is desired. Some experience in admissions and recruiting is recommended but a willingness to learn and an active mind are equally important. Working knowledge of sales, project management or strategic planning will be helpful in succeeding in this position. Experience with regional and local high schools is useful. Valid Nebraska driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
