The Hastings Respite Care Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring respite services for families of the chronically ill, disabled and the elderly in Adams, Clay, Nuckolls and Webster counties.
Responsibilities include publicity, community outreach, recruitment and training of respite care providers, matching/referring providers to family caregivers, monitoring quality of service, leading the efforts & opportunities for family caregiver's education, support, celebration and submitting annual budget requests for funding the program.
Needed Skills, Abilities and Knowledge:
Person seeking this position must be able to schedule their own time efficiently and have a genuine interest in working with families of persons with special needs. You will be able to have your office in, and work from home, but there are times you must be able to attend local community events, meetings and celebrations.
Particularly useful skills are:
* awareness of community resources
* knowledge of needs of persons with special needs
* knowledge of the needs of families with special needs loved ones
* community organization
* public speaking at various meetings/events
* writing
* interviewing, training and supervision of Respite Care Providers
* maintaining the "Respite Care Provider" Registry
* budgeting
* program development & planning
* record keeping and overseeing all non-profit responsibilities
* submitting annual budget requests for funding the program
