The Pittsburgh office of Hatzel & Buehler Inc. is currently seeking to hire full-time Electrical Estimator in both junior and mid-level positions. The ideal candidate is a skilled, self-motivated professional with electrical estimating experience within the commercial and industrial construction sectors. It is our intent to hire an individual who is local and can grow within Hatzel & Buehler’s Pittsburgh office.
Primary Responsibilities
- Estimate various types of industrial and commercial construction projects (i.e. lump sum, GMP, CM at Risk, Design-Build).
- Read, analyze, and interpret contracts, plans, specifications, construction cost data, and other contract documentation necessary to identify project scope, risks, and opportunity.
- Represent the company at site visits and pre-bid meetings.
- Prepare detailed takeoffs, estimates, and proposal letters.
- Identify strategies to create bid advantages.
- Develop bid packages for prospective subcontractors.
- Solicit and evaluate bids and vendor pricing.
- Proactively identify value engineering options or advantages.
- Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine reasons for any discrepancies.
- Maintain good customer and subcontractor relations.
- Work with Project Management team to ensure that projects are completed on time and under budget.
Preferred Skills, Education & Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Electrical Engineering is preferred, but not mandatory if supplemented by construction field experience.
- Excellent Computer Skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and the ability to learn new programs quickly.
- Working knowledge of estimating software such as Accubid, Bluebeam, etc.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a group environment and communicate with all levels of staff within the organization.
- Knowledge of NEC and local codes.
