Title of Position:PASS (Positive Alternatives to Student Suspension) Program Clinician/School Social Worker
Work Year:August - June
Effective Date of Employment:2023-2024 School Year
Salary:Non Unit to be negotiated
Organizational Relationship
or Line of Authority:Responsible to the Director of Guidance, Counseling and Student Support Services and the Superintendent of Schools and/or his/her designees.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
•Communicate daily with PASS team at the YMCA and Haverhill Public Schools for program attendance and identifying any relevant needs
•Work with PASS team at the YMCA and Haverhill Public Schools to review program referrals
•Provide referral support to families and schools
•Lead therapeutic groups on topics that are appropriate for the students in attendance
•Complete intake and exit meetings with students in the program and conduct relevant mental health screenings
•Provide individual counseling to PASS Program attendees
•Make appropriate referrals, with parental consent, for community-based services as needed utilizing HPS e-referral systems
•Create and maintain data collection system to capture mental health screening information as well as schedule and track follow up meetings with students
•Communicate with PASS team, parents/caregivers, and/or Haverhill Public School staff regularly to share information or concerns regarding students
•Support recreational activities with YMCA staff as needed
•Work with HPS staff to add clinical components to the re-entry form and meeting process for students returning to school
•Conduct exit interviews and process suspension incident with students to prepare them for their re-entry meeting with HPS staff
•Coordinate with Conflict Resolution Specialist to coordinate re-entry meeting discussion
•Participate in crisis intervention
•Support students with homework or provide additional one to one check ins
•Establish lines of communication and a good working relationship with area mental/behavioral health agencies
•Create mental health and substance use content for PASS website or program
•Responsible for other general duties as indicated by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee and policies of School Committee
QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
?Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling - Required
?Licensed as LICSW, LCSW or LMHC - Required
?Licensed as a School Adjustment Counselor/Social Worker by Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education - Preferred
?Bilingual - Preferred
?Ability to provide individual and small group counseling to the school-age population
?Ability to work closely and harmoniously with parents, teachers, and administrators
?Ability to conduct mental health screenings and interpret scores
?Knowledge of special education programs and laws
?Knowledge of area mental health services
?Strong organizational skills
?Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable
