Overview : PURPOSE STATEMENT :
PURPOSE STATEMENT :
Working as a crewmember following specific instructions, methods, or procedures, performs as an experienced helper in assisting the Crewfitter #2 in any and all job duties relating to the gas mains and services distribution systems along public rights-of-way up to the meter / regulator set.
Responsibilities :
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Assists higher grade Crewfitters, Inspector Foreman and / or District Supervisor in response to trouble calls and performs emergency response function.
- Delivers / installs meter / regulators or LPG tanks / cylinders and exchanges / returns for refurbishing; services leaking valves in the field.
- Deals with customers and the general public in a tactful and courteous manner to explain work as required.
- Drives vehicles for which qualified and / or directed and assists in maintaining vehicle and associated equipment, including truck stocks.
- Performs clerical / administrative duties as necessary such as documenting work on applicable company forms and inputting data into the computer.
- Works in a safe and responsible manner. Complies with all safety rules, regulations and practices in effect and as established / adopted by the Company.
Cooperates in the fullest in the promotion of safety, safe work habits, and good housekeeping to include the reporting of any unsafe conditions or acts.
Maintains all EH& S training on a current basis.
Maintains assigned work area and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner; performs housekeeping duties as required and / or instructed.
Works in a safe and responsible manner.

Required Education and / or Work Experience :
Completed all required Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal / State, OSHA Federal / State and NFPA courses or programs.
Must maintain at least minimum passing scores per regulations, for all recurring Federal / State and NFPA courses or programs.
- At least one year progressive and successful experience in the job duties described. Basic knowledge of pertinent codes, regulations, standards, and safety rules such as NFPA #54 (National Fuel Gas Code Handbook) and local plumbing code, in addition to standard practices and procedures.
- Must have a good working knowledge of departmental operating rules and procedures, and tools and equipment of the trade.
- Requires a high degree of mechanical aptitude and a good safety record. Must be a safe and competent driver, cognizant of all traffic laws and have a clean traffic abstract.
- Ability to operate a computer with designated software programs.
Preferred Education and / or Work Experience :
Preferably a high school graduate with technical schooling.
Required Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation :
- Must possess a valid Class B, CDL license, with no restrictions on air brakes or transmission type, and valid Medical Examiner's Certificate per 49 CFR 391.41 through 391.49.
