BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:

The P CG FIELD SERVICE & COLLECTIONS Department of the P SUBSTATION & METER Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 4 Bargaining Unit vacancies available. (Role: Non-Exempt)


JOB FUNCTION:

Assist with the deployment and installation of residential smart meters. Utilizes various computer/handheld equipment to collect data and document and record smart meter installations. Performs other residential smart meter field related services. Communicates with customers as needed during installation/meter exchanges.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Removal, replacement and installation of (AMI or Non-AMI) residential meters.
  • Attend and complete where necessary all required safety training, meetings, tailboards etc.
  • Complete a review of company policies and safety procedures as required for meter installations.
  • Communicates with customers during meter exchange as necessary, providing them with requested information or resources to obtain requested information.
  • Operates computer equipment/iPad/Handhelds and various software to send and receive and complete meter replacement work while in the field.
  • Reports and takes pictures of AMI meter installations, company owned electrical facilities and customer owned facilities where necessary.
  • Collect customer data and detail AMI meter installations through company-provided computer equipment/handheld device.
  • Reads meters as necessary to furnish complete or final readings for outgoing meters.
  • Conducts field visits to validate AMI meter installations.
  • Keep complete records of all meters, tools, equipment and supplies issued by the company or returned to the company.
  • Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.
  • May utilize E-Mail to clarify work schedules, assignments, safety protocols etc. through intercompany communication.
  • Operate a vehicle as needed.
  • Performs similar and incidental duties as required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver’s license. Must meet the standards for frequent or required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy. These standards may be adjusted periodically to meet business and safety objectives.
  • Must be willing and able to drive a company or personal vehicle from work site to work site.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be physically qualified to walk long distances.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and position a 5-foot ladder; remove and install/reinstall a meter.
  • Ability to push/pull 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment and in inclement weather.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing,
  • Must have demonstrated customer service skills to serve as a representative of the Company on occasion.
