BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:
The Operations - Kahului and Maalaea Departments of the Generation Division at Hawaiian Electric Company - Maui County has three (2) Bargaining Unit vacancies available. (Role: Non-Exempt)
JOB FUNCTION:
Trains to perform the duties of Senior Operator Helper at the steam plant. Performs general maintenance work as assigned.
FUNDAMENTAL RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Mans a shift with a Senior Operator Helper or Junior Boiler Operator at the steam plant and trains to perform the duties of these classifications.
- Is assigned operational maintenance work at the steam plant.
- May perform in relief capacity, standing watch as Senior Operator Helper when qualified.
- Keeps equipment and work area clean.
- Maintains watch until relieved.
OTHER RESPONSIBLITEIS:
- Performs similar and incidental duties as required.
- Helps on overhauls when available.
FUNDAMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to identify and distinguish different colors and color hues required.
- Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver’s license. Must meet the standards for frequent or required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy.
- Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Plant Operator Selection System (POSS) test. Note: Employees who have taken and passed the Differential Aptitude Tests (DAT) do not need to take the POSS.
- Must pass Job Sample Test.

Wage: $31.19/hour
