Medical Editor

Haymarket Media, Inc. is seeking a Medical Editor to join the Clinical Advisor team. This position will be based in our New York, NY office and we are open to qualified remote candidates.

Job Overview:

The Medical Editor is responsible for editing peer-reviewed manuscripts and creating, producing, and curating news, feature articles, viewpoints, slideshows, polls, and quizzes distributed via digital and print channels. The Medical Editor’s goal is to deliver quality content that meets the informational needs of the Clinical Advisor’s professional audience of nurse practitioners and physician associates.

Key responsibilities:

• Work with the editorial team (including Director and Assistant Editor) to develop Editorial Calendar, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to schedule a workflow to meet timelines and priorities
• Edit and fact-check clinical content such as clinician-written feature articles, news articles, and case reports, including formatting and ensuring references meet AMA style; coordinate author revisions
• Assign news articles; write news/feature articles, as needed
• Contribute to the coverage of medical conferences
• Conduct and capture audio and video interviews with experts
• Maintain the brand’s social media presence across various platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)
• Ensure SEO through consistent use of best publishing practices; monitor growth and performance using analytics tools

Proficiencies:

• At least 5 years’ experience working in an editorial capacity in a medical communications/publishing/education environment
• Use of WordPress for publication of digital content
• Excellent ability to quickly and proficiently edit and fact-check medical and technical materials
• Familiarity with AMA style
• Excellent reading comprehension, listening and analytical skills, and oral and written communication skills
• A successful record of handling multiple simultaneous projects and deadlines
