What are the responsibilities and job description for the Principal Engineer position at Hazen and Sawyer?
Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a mid-level engineer for the planning, design and construction administration for a variety of water/wastewater assignments in its Twin Cities office.
Responsibilities include required traveling, fieldwork and site visits from planning through construction. Supervision of junior staff level employees and managing small projects are required. The ideal candidate must possess excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills. Supporting business development activities including preparation of proposals and presentations, capability of interacting effectively with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies is a must.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Experience in design of water or wastewater facilities and/or conveyance with strong knowledge and background of treatment equipment and pumping systems.
- Experience should include performing design calculations, equipment sizing/ selection, conceptual/feasibility studies, preparation of design reports, development of construction drawings and specifications, bidding assistance, and support of office and field-related construction services including commissioning needs.
- Proficient in all computer software typically used (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, etc.).
- CADD and other software (GIS, etc.) skills will be considered a plus.
- The preferred candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in delivering water and wastewater projects for municipal clients.
Educational Requirements:
- B.S. Degree in Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
- M.S. Degree in Environmental Engineering is a plus.
- PE license must be a current PE or ability to obtain a P.E. license within six months of employment.
