What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tooling Coordinator position at HBD Industries?
Precision Metal Products is looking to expand its Tooling Team and hire Tooling Coordinator to assist in tool coordination and preparation for production teams.
Position Summary
The Tooling Coordinator is responsible for storing, refurbishing, and maintaining tooling dies for use by the Forge Department. Tooling dies are stored and categorized by part number, job, and/or customer.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Die storage – maintain system for racking tools in a manner where location and condition can be determined quickly.
- Die refurb – refurbish tools immediately after production use. Responsible for cleaning tools and starting tools through refurbishing line or oil and store as needed.
- Tool readiness – verify/inspect tools for readiness for production as scheduled.
- Building/heating tools for production.
- Maintaining holders, keys, etc., needed for production use.
- Maintaining all tooling areas in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Polish tools.
- Perform visual, dimensional, and mechanical inspections of all tooling and dies as required per any of the following: drawings, travelers, and/or outside processing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education
- High School diploma or equivalent
- One (1) year of experience in a manufacturing environment and/or tooling department.
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and die prints.
- Ability to perform tool set-up and tear-down.
- Working knowledge of inspection tools including micrometers and calipers.
- Ability to use a hand grinder and other die polishing tools.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 25lbs.
