Job Summary and Qualifications
I. BASIC FUNCTION:
- Support HCA Florida Putnam Cancer Center’s hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities.
- In addition to performing the duties of the staff Radiation Technologist, the Senior Technologist is responsible for supervising the technical/clinical radiation technology staff and is a role model in demonstrating outstanding clinical assessment, interpretive and treatment delivery skills; shares these skills with others to ensure the competency of the team and optimal patient outcomes. The incumbent is responsible for all technical and designated administrative functions of Radiation Therapy for their assigned office(s). This position does provide direct patient care.
II. SIGNIFICANT RESPONSIBILITIES

C. Monitors technical accuracy of treatment setups.
D. Participates in specialty areas such as instruction, new simulation procedures, IMRT, IGRT, Stereotactic Radiotherapy and Radiosurgery, Total Body Irradiation, HDR program and is responsible for the safe utilization of the Record and Verify System, including the ability to teach and assist others in the proper use of the system. Must demonstrate knowledge and ability to perform all aspects of treatment delivery.
E. Directly supervises and manages the technical staff including Radiation Technologists, Nurses, and Medical Assistants (as assigned). Assists with interviewing, selection, training, and competency and performance evaluation of staff.
F. Oversees the correct and appropriate use of the electronic medical record.
G. Oversees simulation and treatment of patients receiving radiation therapy.
H. Oversees scheduling of patients and clinical staff to assure appropriate coverage is maintained. Coordinate weekly chart rounds meeting.
I. Perform quality assurance review of all patient charts after completion of treatment.
J. In coordination with the physicians and physicists, develops, maintains and revises continuous quality improvement measures; instituting corrective processes when necessary. Complies with all reviews and standards established by the department’s Quality Assurance program and the Continuous Quality Improvement committee.
K. Monitors all new patient starts, including boost fields to ensure efficient operations superior patient care.
L. Reconcile the actual daily treatment stats with the DTS and report inaccuracies to the Regional Technical Manager and Medical Coder.
M. Ensures the Clinical Event Log for machine down time is maintained. Follows up on all Machine Problem Reports to ensure proper process reporting is complete per policy.
N. Monitors quality assurance and morning warm-up performed on treatment machines and simulation equipment, including on board imaging and/or portal vision. Oversee the proper completion of QA forms and logbook.
O. Oversees the timely completion of PQRS data collection sheets as assigned.
P. Ensure proper par levels of supplies.
Q. Generates weekly, monthly, and annual statistical reports as required by Administration i.e. weekly patient forecasts
R. Monitors departmental compliance with the regulatory agencies and report deficiencies to the Regional Technical Manager, site Physicist, and Regional Administrator.
S. Participate in regulatory and compliance preparedness initiatives and/or projects.

What qualifications you will need:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support required
- 3 years of experience preferred
- Registered Radiographer (ARRT) (T)
- Florida State License in Radiology required
- Associate Degree in Radiation Therapy required
