The Ortho/Surgical nurse works closely with the patient, their family, and the orthopedic team to ensure clear client education, a smooth recovery, and minimal complications. An orthopedic nurse spends time encouraging patients to increase their mobility, educates about how to protect their joint and bone health, and implements strategies to minimize their pain and complications.

About this unit:

• Ability to specialize and be an empathetic RN working with patients dealing with chronic pain and mobility concerns as well as trauma patients
• Work closely with the Surgical Team (Surgeons, NPs, PAs) caring for a diverse group of post surgical patients.
• 12-Bed Unit providing opportunity to specialize in Ortho and Surgical
• Learn to work in a fast paced environment, apply critical thinking skills and work to advance to future areas as a Nurse!

Responsibilities:

• Under the general direction of the Director, Manager or Nurse Manager,  Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates and provides patient care and assumes individual responsibility and accountability for the provision of nursing care.
• Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care is  in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, applicable state Nursing Practice Acts, ANA Standards of Practice and the generic and unit structure standards.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
• Current state of Missouri RN licensure required OR ATT Letter to sit for NCLEX, STARN Training provided. 
• BLS certification required at hire and maintained.
