Job Summary and Qualifications

Assist the Pathologist and Histologist for some procedures involved in the processing of surgical and gross specimens; Assigns numbers to specimens and accurately logs them in the Histology Accession Book; Sets up tissues and grossing by Pathologist and set tissue processor after specimens have been processed in. Works under the direct supervision of Histology Coordinator and general supervisor of the Pathologist and Laboratory Technical Director.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma required. Some medical experience preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of medical terminology or anatomy required. Specimen processing experience preferred.

CERTIFICATION: ASCP/ASPT Certified a plus.
