Here is some of what you can expect from being an Administrative Assistant with us:
- You will have primary responsibility for the efficient organization and effectiveness of the Pathology Department
- You will maintain a competent level of performance and provide quality service for the secretarial and clerical duties for the Pathology Department
- You will provide customer service and interacts with physicians, hospital directors, laboratory staff, hospital staff, as well as patients and families as indicated
- You will provides clerical support for the Pathologists and Laboratory Director
- You will oversee office supply inventory
- You will assist in the completion of departmental assignments
- Receive and verify patient information on all paperwork and specimen containers for accuracy
- Accurately accession/Log all cases into the Lab Information System.
- Maintain slide filing, prepare tumor conferences, maintain laboratory records, maintain pathology equipment and logs.
- Answer the department telephone and direct calls to the appropriate person for response
- Maintains reports, prepares send out documentation and monitors result receipt
- Maintains necessary legal documentation
- Assists with supply ordering, receipt, storage and inventory of supplies
- Participates in QA reviews are needed
- Assists with laboratory accreditation inspection preparations
- Agrees to wear appropriate PPE
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications you will need for this role:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year medical office or hospital laboratory secretarial experience
- Supervisory/management skills preferred
- Knowledge of office procedures and medical terminology
- Computer experience and word processing preferred
- Effective communication and human relation skills
- Must have the ability to manage multiple task simultaneously
