Job Summary and Qualifications

HCA Healthcare’s Media specialist will have exceptional writing capabilities to develop communications plans and related communications tools and materials that promote and protect HCA Healthcare’s reputation.
The Media Specialist is responsible for developing and deploying communications on behalf of HCA Healthcare that support key strategic initiatives to targeted audiences. The specialist must be able to grasp complex situations and have the ability to write content that is clear and compelling.
The specialist will work with a variety of subject-matter experts and communications partners to ensure that messaging, imagery and communications are in alignment with corporate style and brand guidelines. The specialist will establish and nurture critical strategic relationships with key stakeholders to ensure deliverables are aligned with HCA Healthcare’s business policies, strategies and priorities. An understanding of public relations as well as measurement and evaluation is valuable to this role.
What you will do in this role:
- Develop communications plans in support of company strategic objectives (e.g. managed care contracting, rollout of new company initiatives, etc.) for internal and external audiences
- Work with subject matter experts to write communications materials that are compelling and support the objectives of the identified initiative
- Edit and proofread documents and communications materials to meet brand and quality standards
- Serve as a designated writer on various writing projects as needed
- Assist in development of press releases, talking points, key messages, FAQs, etc.
- Manage and maintain repository of responsive media statements that meet quality and brand standards
- Develop template media relations plans to help HCA Healthcare affiliates leverage earned media opportunities related to enterprise-wide initiatives
- Facilitate timely responses to inquiries to HCA Healthcare website, both for internal and external audiences
- Update and maintain HCA Healthcare press kit materials and executive bios
- Manage production and distribution of daily news report
- Manage photo and video shoots as needed
- Maintain media lists
What qualifications you will need:
- Bachelor’s Degree is required
- 5 years of relevant work experience
- Experience developing effective communications plans
- Previous experience in media relations, public relations, or journalism
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills
