Description
SHIFT: Days (rotating weekends)SCHEDULE: Full-time
- Clarifies unclear or unfamiliar orders with RN/Charge RN/LPN. Promptly notifies RN/Charge RN/LPN of stat orders.
- Ensures physician orders are processed/entered promptly and accurately as per policy under the supervision of the RN/Charge RN/LPN.
- Works cooperatively with other units in coordinating patient transfers and temporary placement and ensures Charge RN and admitting is promptly notified of admissions, discharges, transfers and patient needs.
- Contributes to a culture of patient centered care by ensuring a quiet healing environment.
- Communicates and interacts with patients, families and others in a caring, empathetic, courteous, and respectful manner.
- Communicates effectively and works with physicians and/or other members of the interdisciplinary team in meeting patient needs.
- Continuously evaluates work process and design; understands role in ensuring quality/performance improvement, productivity, and service delivery to meet stakeholder needs.
- Accurately scans and records equipment and supplies to ensure appropriate charges and inventory control.
- Optimizes use of supplies, equipment and services, ensuring a high level of clinical care at the lowest cost. Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
- Acts as departmental receptionist; courteously greets and receives all visitors, patients and families to the unit. Is courteous in all verbal interactions and practices good telephone etiquette at all times.
- Willingly shares knowledge/expertise and assists co-workers. Fosters teamwork and contributes to achievement of team goals. Acts as a resource for co-worker's as appropriate.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings, patient conferences and in-service presentations as appropriate. Completes annual competency training, including but not limited to, infection control, patient safety, quality improvement, MSDS, and OSHA standards (PPE, First Aid and Blood-borne Pathogens, Hazard Communications, Emergency Procedures and Job Safety).
