Job Summary and Qualifications
The Certified Central Sterile Technician (CCST) is a member of the Surgical Services team responsible for processes used in the decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling and packaging of medical/surgical supplies, instruments and equipment as well as the care and monitoring process for the related central sterile equipment. The CCST provides support to all patient care services in the health care facility and affiliated physician practices.
What you will do in this role:
- Provides for patient comfort, safety, respect, and confidentiality.
- Responsible for loss control of instrumentation.
- Responsible for control of all parts of the sterilization process which includes decontamination; prep, pack, and sterilize; documentation of sterilization; and sterile storage.
- Provide integrity and sterility of products and services to the customers.
- Work in conjunction with the OR staff to provide timely sterile products.
- Maintain consistency and continuous workflow between the OR and central sterile processing.
- Operate and maintain decontamination equipment.
- Monitor surgery schedules daily, identifying general, specific and potential needs for all cases.
- Operate and maintain steam autoclaves and keep records of loads completed.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate records to remain compliant with applicable regulatory agencies, as well as reporting occurrences immediately to supervisor.
- Accurately performs and documents biological tests for all sterilization loads.
What qualifications you will need:
- High School Diploma and Graduation from an accredited school
- Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) is required
- One year of experience is preferred
