SAFETY TECHNICIAN CONSTRUCTION

WE ARE SEEKING:
A self-motivated, energetic, and experienced Safety Technician to provide or identify safety-related training, oversee adherence to construction safety norms, etc. Work performed involves considerable technical independence under the administrative procedures and policies set up by administrative superiors. Under general supervision of the Safety Supervisor is the on-site representative of the Company safety department and is responsible for ensuring that all work is performed in a safe manner and in compliance with company, client, local, state, and federal regulations at multiple locations in the Orange and Los Angeles County areas. Safety Technician will be responsible for several activities, including underground and aerial installation of utilities for multiple clients. Safety Technician will perform inspections, audits, incident investigation, training, and other activities to help support the safety needs of the company.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Perform job site safety inspections/audits in accordance with company policies.
- Participate and engage in weekly safety meetings.
- Identify unsafe behaviors and unsafe conditions in the workplace.
- Ensure compliance with Federal and State OSHA standards.
- Ensure compliance with the company’s current safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with city and local permits and regulations on specific projects.
- Work closely with crew foreman, supervisor, and managers to maintain a safe job site.
- Assist foreman with JHA development and administration of its programs.
- Investigate and document all injuries, incidents, and near misses. May escort employee(s) for treatment and medical evaluations as necessary.
- Conduct and coordinate safety training for all Jobsite employees to include COVID protocols, CPR/First Aid, Excavation/Trenching, Fall Protection, Working Platforms, Aerial Lifts, Confined/Enclosed Spaces, etc.
- Respond to employee safety concerns or issues that may come up on the job site.
- Ability to develop related policies and procedures and ensure implementation and execution.
- Ability to participate in executive meetings and present safety-related data gathered from safety audits, accident investigations or customer-related information.
- Exceptional verbal skills and concise communication are key to success in this role.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software.
WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- Knowledge of construction safety that includes inspection methods, procedures and practices, modern training and teaching methods and health and safety guidelines.
- Ability to develop and deliver safety and health training programs.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written.
- Establishing and maintaining an effective working relationship with representatives from regulatory organizations.
- Skill in operating technical testing equipment and instruments.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills.
- Good judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make logical decisions.
- Detail-oriented and accurate.
- Demonstrated ability for working independently under minimal supervision
- Graduation from an accredited university or college, with a degree in health and safety engineering or any related area.
- At least three years of work experience in discharging duties related to safety coordination at a major construction or engineering site.
