Flight Operations Specialist

his position provides aviation support for daily flight operations, including flight scheduling, flight monitoring, and dispatching for scheduled aviation missions and emergency responses to wildland firefighting operations. The position requires flexibility in scheduling which includes holidays and weekends. Starting rates begin at $35 per hour based on qualifications.

• Performs helicopter and UAS flight monitoring to track aircrews working with company ground crews. Relays relevant information to pilots, such as restricted space, altitude awareness, and other aircraft in the area. Reconciles flight details and information in database.
• Responds to emergency situations as needed. Schedules requested flights (internal and external) with contracted aircrews. Ensures requests are handled in a timely manner.
• Responds to on-call issues and dispatches flight crews and in response to immediate needs or fires. Ensures aircraft is prepared if/when dispatched for fire-related incidents.
• Prepares administrative data for flight operations.
• Ensures safe operations from planning, through execution, and debrief of missions
• Reports to the Flight Operations Base Lead.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be of high integrity and sound character, dedicated self-starter, committed to excellence
• Drug test, criminal and driving history review is required
• Ability to work under stressful situations.
• Must have strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to work variety of daily times, weekends, and holidays at Gillespie Field (KSEE).
• Private pilot’s license, Part 107 sUAS certificate highly desirable.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience desired. Experience in aviation preferred, including CRM, Human Factors, and a understanding of Aviation weather.
• Experience with fire crews, dispatch, emergency response desirable.
• Experience with radio equipment preferred and flight following software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, required.
• Ability to work in and analyze Google Maps preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field highly desirable.
