Delivery Driver

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: This position is responsible for the delivery of all chemical products delivered from the Grand Rapids location. This position is also responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the Chemical Department when not out on deliveries. Delivery Drivers are at times “the face of the company” and are required to promote the company and in a professional manner, treating our customers as an extension of the HCS family.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Planning delivery loads, routes, and complete all required paperwork with accuracy.
• Follow all applicable DOT regulations for transportations of detergents.
• Deliver all products to customer in the manner required by HCS, including close attention to details as instructed on the orders.
• Ensure proper maintenance and care of the delivery truck as per the Lease Company and HCS requirements.
• When required, perform inspections or minor repairs or installation of detergent application systems.
• Properly maintain all special tools and pumps that are an essential part of the delivery truck routine.
• Accurately follow batch instructions for detergent blending.
• Conduct 5S daily audits and participate in LEAN initiatives.
• Utilize automated filling equipment for packaging product.
• Follow daily housekeeping procedures for the blending room and delivery truck.
• Maintain safe work environment and follow safety procedures.
• Assist in the washing of drums and totes to be re-used.
• Use a forklift for moving raw materials and detergents through the warehouse and loading delivery trucks.

REQUIREMENTS: Educational Requirements / Experience Requirements:

• Minimum GED required.
• Must be able to pass basic math and mechanical aptitude test.

Technical Experience: Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Class X Endorsement (Tanker & Hazmat), forklift experience.

Industry Experience: Previous delivery experience and 1 or more years’ experience in a manufacturing industry.

Physical Requirements:

• Driving for extended periods of time.

• Standing for long periods of time.

• Handling chemicals

• Wearing a full-face breathing apparatus (respirator) for extended periods of time

• Working in/with Interior atmospheric conditions (e.g. fumes, vapors, orders, mists and limited ventilation)

• Extended hours away from main location of business

• Heavy, but infrequent lifting up to 75 pounds.

• Lifting- raising, lowing or moving objects.

• Push and pulling up to 600 lbs., using 2-wheel drum cart.

• Climb in and out of delivery truck, frequently

• DOT Medical Certification Technical Requirements – specifically related to this position

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
