Senior Research Scientist – Analytical

Curia provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

The Senior Research Scientist, Analytical Development is an integral part of the Curia team, contributing to our success by supporting the manufacturing department and external customers.  The routine functions of the laboratory are testing of raw materials, in-process, end product, and stability samples for trace level impurities by mass spectrometry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of pharmaceutical samples to identify and quantify trace organic compounds by LCMS(MS) in adherence with Curia’s SOP's and industry practices.
  • Act as an individual contributor or analytical leader on multiple projects, including interacting with clients, reviewing and evaluating data, and writing analytical reports and protocols.
  • Develop and validate LC-MS(MS) based analytical methods for trace organic compounds for genotoxic impurities to support drug substance and drug product release.
  • Perform impurity identification and structure elucidation activities by High Resolution Accurate Mass LC-MS(MS)
  • Lead on multiple projects simultaneously and tracks the progress of the project so that it remains on-time and within expected budgets
  • Use research knowledge to effectively plan and manage day-to-day work cycle operations of a project; stay current with changes in applicable field
  • Plans work to meet personal project objectives and deadlines; assesses the needs and makes changes in process, work flow and/or assignments.
  • Display the ability to assimilate previously gained knowledge and experience and apply those concepts, techniques, etc. to new and related project areas

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, or other applicable natural science field OR; Master’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience OR; Bachelor’s and 7 years of relevant experience
  • Chemical Hygiene training
  • LCMS method development or GMP experience is a plus
  • Strong Project Management skills are desirable.
