HDR currently has an opening for a Bridge Co-op with an interest and orientation toward highway bridges to join our team in Columbia, Charleston, Greenville, or Rock Hill, SC. The Bride Co-op offers real-world experience on exciting projects and the opportunity to perform assignments under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer in support of bridge design and inspection projects.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform standard bridge engineering design procedures
- Assist with bridge concept studies and geometric layout
- Develop structural details using specialized software (MicroStation, Mathcad, LARSA, or various concrete and steel design or analysis programs)
- Inspect bridges and complete site assessments
- Perform structural load rating calculations
- Help produce bridge plans using CADD software
- Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate bridge, structural, civil or closely related engineering program
- Attention to detail is a must
- Must possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer 2 years completed toward a degree with 3.0 GPA
- Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to the field of study/industry
