Primary Responsibilities
The Strategic Communications Senior Coordinator will develop, execute, and manage communication and outreach activities on a variety of infrastructure projects. Applying candidates should have a deep knowledge of public involvement, public relations, and community engagement, as well as a natural ability to listen, develop unique strategies, and lead production teams.
This is a person who is passionate about community engagement, loves to collaborate and has a habit of thinking outside the box as a member of a high-performing team.
In the role of Senior Communications Coordinator, we'll count on you to:
- Assist with client management and leads in the development and implementation of outreach, communication, and public relations plans.
- Lead production/planning teams, concept development, write, edit and coordinate graphic materials.
- Coordinate, organize, manage, and facilitate formal and informal public meetings, hearings, open houses, focus groups, workshops, advisory committees, and other stakeholder meetings.
- Coordinate project-related data gathering, along with political analysis and monitoring, which may include assisting or leading the development and management of political outreach strategies.
- Monitor, track, and document project-related news coverage and identify industry trends.
- Develop and maintain interested-party relationship management tools designed to further project objectives. Analyze data for inclusion in project databases, and manage external service providers including court reporters, videographers, acoustical consultants, and sub-consultants.
- Research industry news coverage and industry trends for client projects
- Perform other duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's in a closely related field or combination of education and relevant experience.
- 5 years of related experience in media coordination, public engagement, and communications, including developing public notices and press releases.
- Experience leading social media campaignand digital engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage projects from conception to completion.
- Interest and awareness of public policy and/or infrastructure-related terminology and the foundational concepts related to infrastructure planning and construction.
- Service- and client-oriented personality with the ability to handle multiple assignments at a time, along with setting and meeting deadlines while maintaining high standards.
- Self-starter who can work well independently or in a team environment.
- Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to travel.
- Working knowledge of local, state, and federal requirements for public involvement.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture is a must.
