HDR is looking for a Water Supply Planning Lead to join our South Atlantic (NC/SC/GA) Water Business Group. This position may be based in Charlotte, Raleigh, or Winston-Salem. This individual must have a technical background in water supply planning and watershed management programs. The Water Supply Planning Lead will be responsible for managing staff teams and projects focused on master planning, technical evaluation, modeling, and technical writing related to water quantity and quality issues impacting water supply and overall watershed health and sustainability. They will work closely with client organizations throughout the Carolinas focused on river basin management strategies, while completing technical analysis, writing reports and technical memos, coordinating with sub-consultants, maintaining project schedules/budgets, and producing documents in accordance with project scopes and quality program procedures. This position will require frequent contact with clients regarding ongoing projects and tasks and will require occasional field data collection and site visits for projects. On a day-to-day basis, they'll also be expected to:
* Manage water supply planning projects and planning staff
* Perform technical investigations and analyses of various detailed water resources studies
* Prepare reports relating to watershed and water supply planning, drought management and other environmental matters around water resource management
* Oversee water quantity and quality modeling support for master plans and similar water resource management projects
* Provide specialized engineering input as required to other business groups on matters related to environmental engineering and watershed planning
* Keep abreast of new technologies and research pertaining to water resources issues such as climate change, water demand management, water quality monitoring, water supply infrastructure renewal/replacement/enhancement
* Provide business development support for water supply clients in the Carolinas

Required Qualifications
BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering required
Minimum of 10 years of experience related to water supply planning and watershed management programs
Must have significant knowledge and demonstrated experience in water resources and watershed management including water quantity and water quality management, as well as water shortage response planning and drought management
Must have a detailed understanding of interpreting regulations for application in planning and coordinating with resource agencies
Proficiency in meeting facilitation, public speaking, and effective use of presentation technology
Proficient knowledge in the use of Excel spreadsheet and database tools, including GIS
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and thrive working in a team environment
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred Qualifications
MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering preferred
NC/SC PE licensure preferred
