HDR Engineering is looking for an Iowa Principal to join our growing Quad Cities office.
Primary Responsibilities
The Iowa Principal is responsible for the growth, coordination and oversight of our growing engineering practice in Eastern Iowa. Responsibilities include business development activities for planning, design, and construction programs; work with local area manager, local business group operations managers, and regional directors in the areas of strategic planning, development of annual and long term goals, program leadership, client development, community and industry participation, project pursuits and delivery, and staffing.
- Drive business development efforts within Iowa and the central region of the United States, including involvement in marketing planning, proposals and interviews.
- Function as Project Manager and take responsibility for production on projects in addition to management responsibilities.
- Serve as Project Principal and take responsibility for overseeing overall execution of projects and serve as a secondary line of communication to clients.
- Lead and coordinate services with other offices in Iowa and Nebraska.
- Be directly involved with industrial and public clients in marketing, project production and related issues.
- See that work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through proactive project management system.
- Implement, monitor and support company policy.
- Select, train, develop and manage technical personnel.
- Manage and develop multidiscipline teams.
- Work cooperatively with National Directors and marketing staff in local and national marketing and production efforts.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or closely related field.
- 20 year’s of progressive experience including design and project management within water, transportation, or resources markets.
- PE required.
- Excellent marketing and business development skills in addition to contacts/relationships in municipalities and agencies.
- Experience managing staff, clients and contracts, as well as hiring staff for an engineering consulting firm.
- Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams, regional, department, technical managers and project staff.
- Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values.
