What are the responsibilities and job description for the Designer position at HDT Global?
- Supports the department by creating mechanical/electrical/electronic designs for new product parts, subassemblies, assemblies, or systems configurations using CAD; compiling Bills of Materials; assisting in the assembly of prototypes
- Drawing multiple views; depicting relationship of component and parts; identifying dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerances, and materials; preparing bills of material and specifications; creating documentation required and processing Engineering Change Orders; ensuring adherence to designated quality and cost parameters; using CAD systems
- Ensures quality of drawings and functionality of equipment by assisting in the building/acquiring of prototypes; testing and analyzing results; making various calculations, such as strength of materials, weights, simple forces, and stresses, frequently using charts and tables; analyzing the effect of proposed changes for proper fit and/or interference problems; recommending possible solutions or alternate construction; modifying drawings as required; conferring with engineers to resolve issues; adhering to Company policies and procedures
- Maintains CAD equipment by following manufacturer’s instruction and procedures; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs, as required
- Complies with engineering playbook and best practice procedures
- Interfaces well with team members, especially assigned engineers
