This position is included in the Development Specialist Classification. Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the employee in this class is responsible for the management of the economic development program with particular emphasis on economic recovery and growth in the Region. Work entails extensive contact with federal, state and local officials and businesses. Work is varied and complex, and considerable latitude exists for individual initiative. This position will have an emphasis on economic development which will be responsible for preparing and completing all reporting for the EDA program at the HRDC. This position will also provide technical assistance to local units of government and citizen groups by identifying and coordinating programs, in writing grant proposals, and in interpreting pertinent State and Federal regulations.
The chosen individual must be passionate about creating successful communities in our five county Region. The starting salary is expected to be $47,000 per year plus excellent benefits.

Kinds of Duties Will Include
Prepare all EDA applications and reports on time and provide support in completing the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) and applications and progress reports related to the district planning grant.
Coordinate with other economic development organizations in the Region and State to maximize the use of available resources and avoid duplication.
Completes contractual obligations of the HRDC related to the economic development program.
Make economic statistics, census material and other information available to developers and decision makers.
Assist in or write special reports and plans on different economic development opportunities in the Region.
Develop planning proposals and strategies, as well as actual grant applications, to assist various organizations in obtaining funds.
Provide technical assistance to local units of government and citizens groups by identifying and coordinating programs, in writing grant proposals, and in interpreting pertinent State and Federal regulations.
Designs, studies, evaluates and prepares plans and reports on the physical, social or economic needs of the region.
Responsible for the completion of all reporting required by HRDC funding sources.
Responsible for the presentation of planning efforts to public officials and private citizens groups.

Pre-Employment:
