Summary
Designs and creates programming for nursing professional development (NPD) and clinical education throughout Parkview Health. Develops tools and theories of NPD to improve the practice of staff. The NPD Specialist is accountable for Practitioner competencies as well as Specialist competencies.
Education
Must have MSN, Master's degree, DNP, PhD, or EdD. Acceptable accrediting agencies are Commission on Collegiate Education in Nursing (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA). Indiana Perinatal Standards require that NICU and Obstetrics educators have a Master's degree, MSN preferred.
Licensure/Certification
Valid Indiana Registered Nurse license required. Nursing Professional Development certification required. Certification in other clinical specialty area preferred.
Experience
Must have minimum of five years of experience in direct patient care, preferably in area of specialty for position applied and have prior experience in education role (i. e. patient education, staff education, community, academic...). Indiana Perinatal Standards require that NICU and Obstetrics educators must have advanced neonatal and obstetrical experience.
Other Qualifications
Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
