Warehouse Lead III (Back-up Warehouse Supervisor) is a key position for Supply Services with essential functions offering opportunities to gain experience related to using modern receiving software systems, warehouse equipment and the
logistics to assure the patients/residents we serve are supplied their needed supplies for daily living.
Warehouse Lead III performs advanced logistical inventory and warehouse work. Work involves coordinating warehouse operations and supplies, maintaining security of state property and warehouse stock inventory. Duties include monitoring stock levels for loss prevention and adequate supply to facilities, and ensure warehouse operations are in compliance with established procedures. In the absence of the Warehouse Supervisor this position supervises and trains staff including staff at partner location(s). Works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Additional tasks include processing replenishments of stock, putting away goods, rotating stock, pulling orders from inventory stock bins and delivering goods to state facilities. Must actively participate and/or serve in a Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Supply Services warehouses operate in a safe yet quick moving, effective and efficient environment! This is a physically active position where creativity, strength and discipline are important factors to assist with the heavy physical work involved. While the main focus of this position is leading staff and movement of supplies, this position will also be cross trained to learn new and exciting skills including using the newest up-to-date receiving software systems, handheld devices for inventory control and warehouse equipment. EJF 1 Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency and departmental leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
EJF 2 Coordinates staff duties by assigning, reviewing, and training in the areas of receiving, issuing, rotating stock, loading and unloading of trucks. Ensure necessary services and supplies are properly delivered to individuals and employees and the states assets are secure at all times. Ensures and plans for arrangement and rotation of stock to prevent spoilage, deterioration, and obsolescence to ensure quality and availability of warehouse stock. (35%)
EJF 3 Coordinates and reviews the inventory and stock control records (receipts & issues) and warehouse reports in order to provide current and accurate information for inventory and warehouse operations. Checks and approves requests for replenishing stock. May generate replenishment requisitions. Trains staff in the use of MIMS in order to provide accurate and timely issuance of warehouse stock. Enters receipts into the CAPPS system; coordinates and trains other staff to receive accurately and timely. (25%)
EJF 4 Advises staff on Departmental Procedures and assists staff with special problems in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department. Ensures an efficient system of warehouse management and control, and recommends improvements as needed to the Supply Services Departmental Procedures. Conducts performance evaluations of assigned staff in order to give employees timely feedback on their performance. Keeps supervisor advised on inventory, personnel, and any warehousing problems. (20%)
EJF 5 Operates and trains staff on the use of material handling equipment including a forklift and pallet jack. Oversees safe handling of materials using forklifts. (10%)
EJF 6 Completes other duties as assigned. (10%)
Knowledge of warehousing methods and procedures, of inventory and stock control record keeping, of automated inventory-control systems, of reporting procedures, and of departmental policies and procedures.
Ability to train others and to supervise the work of others in the areas of shipping, receiving, issuing and inventory control.
Ability to review warehouse operations for compliance with established procedures and to transfer stock from one location to another.
Knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, functions, and operations.
Skill in the use of computer and related equipment, including the use of Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent to include word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software programs.
Skill in the use of a calculator.
Skill in the use of mechanical lifting devices used in warehouse operations.
Skill in communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to use a handheld device for the purpose of managing warehouse stock and receiving goods.
Ability to prepare reports and maintain records.
Ability to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public.
Ability to make arithmetic computations.
Valid Class C Drivers License (Texas Drivers License preferred) to be checked yearly for any violations or suspensions
1. Graduation from an accredited high school or GED.
2. Work experience using integrated personal computer applications.
3. Work experience supervising or leading the work of others.
4. Work experience in inventory control and material handling equipment.

Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours.

SALARY NOTE: The posted salary range reflects the minimum and maximum allowable by state law. Any employment offer is contingent upon available budgeted funds. The offered salary will be determined in accordance with budgetary limits and the requirements of HHSC Human Resources Manual Chapter 7.
