Online News Producer (East Coast Hours)
We’re looking for an ambitious, versatile journalist with digital skills to join our team of digital editor s. The online news producer will have experience working as a website producer and/or social media editor in a newsroom. Digital storytelling skills and technical acumen are of the utmost importance in this role. We need a self-starter with high standards who can collaborate well, has excellent communication skills, is comfortable providing and taking feedback and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Duties:
- Manage the SFChronicle.com homepage and section pages, balancing sharp news judgment and writing skills against real-time analytics.
- Help manage social media accounts, breaking news alerts and newsletter campaigns to drive engagement with our stories.
- Create posts for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media channels, while helping to hone the SFChronicle voice and drive engagement.
- Work with digital project managers, editor s and writers on innovative packages and new ways of storytelling.
Who we’re looking for:
- 2 years’ newsroom experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree, journalism focus preferred
- Excellent social media skills
- Understanding of media ethics
- Experience with analytics systems like Chartbeat or Google Analytics
Requirements:
- This position is full-time.
- It will include early AM start times, and weekend work.
- This position is remote-friendly. We welcome applicants in Central and East Coast time zones.
