Summary/Primary Purpose: Lee County, Iowa is one of the highest food insecure counties in Iowa. During the school year children are fed at school with breakfast and lunch, however, in the summer many children go without proper nutrition. Working in conjunction with the Keokuk School District, The Salvation Army provides a meal per day to children throughout Lee County who are not able to walk to the school for a free summer lunch.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- This position is responsible to drive The Salvation Army vehicle following the EDS Canteen to each pick-up food to the distribution sites and return food to the school.
- Assist with the serving of food and/or preparing a place for the children to eat.
- Build quality healthy relationships with children from the local community through positive interaction.
- Be a positive example and reflect the love of Jesus Christ, keeping this environment as uplifting and safe as possible.
- Maintain positive work atmosphere through appropriate conflict management, courteous demeanor, and professional and appropriate communication practices.
- Ensure children eat the required food and assist them with cleaning up.
- Perform other duties as assigned related to the Mobile Outreach Meals program.
- This position may be required to work hours outside of normal business hours, to include holidays and weekends.
- Driving is an essential requirement for this position.
- All other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
