Analyst
We are HedgeStar (www.hedgestar.com), a Twin Cities firm specializing in risk management consulting, financial instrument valuation, hedge reporting, and hedge accounting services. Our distinctive and entrepreneurial team has an opening for an Analyst in our Operations team, supporting our existing channel partners and direct clients with periodic hedge valuation and reporting services. The position provides the opportunity to interact with all levels of
HedgeStar’s services and grow in a multi-faceted role.
The Analyst will build trades in our system of record, monitor client trading activity, and produce valuation statements and hedge accounting reports related to financial instruments.
The financial instruments may include but are not limited to debt, derivatives, currencies, commodities, and equities. Additionally, this role is client-facing and the Analyst will be expected to communicate with and respond to clients in a timely and effective manner.
Responsibilities Include:
- Support client derivative trading activities on a daily, monthly, and quarterly basis
- Monitor daily service activities, generating valuations and reporting based on transactions
- Examine trade contracts and build trades in our system of record
- Respond to client inquiries such as requests for documentation, verification of data or supporting information
- Optimize client deliverables in our system of record, and track and log activity in our
Customer Relationship Management system
- Assist with special projects and additional duties on an ad-hoc basis
- Investigate valuation discrepancies and defend valuation work with data-driven evidence
- Respond to auditor or regulator inquiries comprehensively and with a sense of urgency
Skills, knowledge and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, or other highly related area(s) of study
- Candidates with 0-2 years of experience are welcome to apply
- Internship or work experience in a financial position is preferred, one with participation in creation of financial statements or exposure to financial instrument valuation
- Strong drive to learn about financial instrument valuation methodologies and related financial reporting/accounting standards
- Strong interest in quantitative analysis and providing a positive customer experience
- Understanding of financial instrument valuation, and/or ASC topic 815/820, preferable but not required
- Interest in leveraging technology to analyze large datasets

Analyst
- Experience using Thomson Reuters Eikon or other financial market data service, a plus
- Motivated self-starter, interested in a growth-focused and client-driven environment
- Proactive communication skills with strong attention to detail
- Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize daily operations workflow
- Communicates effectively while working on a close-knit team
- Proven attention to detail and inquisitive nature
- Candidates must pursue a relevant professional designation (e.g., CPA, CFA, CAIA, CIMA,
PFS, CTP, FRM, PRM, CVFI, CPA-ABV or similar)
