What are the responsibilities and job description for the Counselor I position at Helio Health, Inc.?
Helio Health is on a mission to treat and promote recovery from the effects of substance use, mental health disorders, and other behavioral healthcare issues. To support the mission of Helio Health, the Counselor I will provide rehabilitation services to patients as a part of their overall treatment. The Counselor I will work on a Full-Time basis out of Helio Health’s Rochester Inpatient Program.

Responsibilities:
- Assists individuals in recovery with articulating personal goals for recovery using their personal experience.
- Assists individuals in recovery with creating Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP)
- Helps individuals achieve personal goals for recovery, find self-help groups, establish self-help groups, or find other recovery focused groups.
- Uses lived experience to refer individuals or their families to healthy leisure opportunities or community resources that may be helpful.
- Uses and teaches problem solving techniques to individuals and groups.
- Leads discussions on methods to overcome common problems in daily living.
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate/Equivalency Required.
- Certified Peer Recovery Advocate (CRPA) preferred or in process.
- One year of Human Service experience preferred.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License.
- Proficiency with basic computer and smart phone applications
