What are the responsibilities and job description for the Offshore Galleyhand position at Helix Resources, LLC?

We are now accepting resumes/applications for EXPERIENCED OFFSHORE GALLEYHAND for facilities in the Gulf of Mexico & surrounding waters.  Duties/Responsibilities may/may not be limited to the following:
  • Job Scope:
    • The utility hand’s duties may include assisting the cook with food and dining room preparations, assisting in serving meals, washing dishes, or other work in the galley or kitchen, as well as work outside the kitchen. General Housekeeping duties include: making beds, cleaning latrines, cleaning and buffing floors, and garbage disposal to name a few.

    • Proven experience offshore
    • Strong oral & written communication skills
    • Ability to work effectively with others
    • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task 
    • Ability to follow specific instructions.
    • Knowledge of OSHA Regulations, and ANSI Standards in crane operations
  • Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Assist cook with food preparation and serving as well as properly storing foods and protecting foods from contaminants.
    • Prepare and sustain constant supply of fresh coffee.
    • Rotate groceries and supplies, especially perishables.
    • Unload and store groceries and supplies.
    • Clean and organize galley area including walk-in freezer, pantries, and storage areas.
    • Clean and sanitize galley equipment, dishes, utensils, and refuse containers.
    • Clean and maintain orderliness of galley, galley areas, quarters, and other areas for which Taylors’ employees are responsible, including making beds daily, regularly cleaning bathrooms, and sweeping, mopping, stripping, and waxing floors regularly.
    • Inventory and sack dirty linen to send to cleaners.
    • Inventory incoming clean linen and properly store.
    • Attend safety meetings, inspections, fire drills, and other meetings or demonstrations as required.
    • Demonstrate your skills and duties to new employees to help train them.
    • Other duties as directed by management.
    • Be responsible for ensuring the safety of your employees and the job site by doing the following:
    • Participate in JSA’s and all other Safety, Health and Environmental Processes.
    • Perform tasks maintaining all health, safety and environmental rules and ensure all work is done in a manner which enhances the safety of the work environment
    • Implement health and safety standards when carrying out job operations to ensure public and environmental safety
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 LBS
    • Working and living on a remote, confined, work place for a lengthy time, sometimes as long as four weeks.
    • Working for 12 hour workdays or nights.
    • Working uninterrupted work schedules that includes holidays.
    • Traveling to work throughout the Gulf Coast Region.
    • May sometimes be on stand by while waiting for a new job assignment.
    • May be transported by helicopter or boat to and from the job site.
    • Ability to work in varying hot and cold environments
    • Ability to work in cramped and/or confined spaces when required
    • Ability to work in an environments with exposures to dust, dirt and various other debris, metal and paint fumes, gases
    • Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, squat, or kneel regularly, as well as climb stairs and ladders to complete tasks
  • Must have reliable transportation
