Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Residential supervisor and in accordance with state agency policies and procedures, the Direct Support Professional is responsible for the support, training, and services coordination of the persons served.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up work/programming areas in the most effective manner to maximize training potential.
- Inspect all work to ensure all standards are being met.
- Track daily the goals/product of each individual and distribute paychecks.
- Maintain programming/production output in compliance with guidelines established by the supervisor.
- Assist with ADL’s, feeding, and toileting as per individualized need.
- Implement activities and recreation per the programming schedule.
- Transport by agency vehicle as assigned.
- Implement and document individual training objectives.
Qualifications
STANDARD JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Regular, predictable attendance is an essential requirement for this position.
- Vision and Hearing within functional limits to respond to requests or emergency situations.
- Ability to transfer materials and individuals and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to self-transport.
- This position requires employees to work with persons who may become physically aggressive.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to promote and adhere to company values.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- Experience working with individuals with Developmental Disabilities is required for the Day Trainer position.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record if driving is required.
- Must apply for PACE certification if driving a PACE vehicle is required.
- Must be able to work at any of Helping Hand’s facilities as assigned.
