We’re currently looking for an Occasional Caregiver in Del Aire, Los Angeles, 90045
JOB ID 16256 - A Los Angeles family, near Del Aire, 90045 is seeking an occasional caregiver for their 66-year-old mother to start as soon as possible until June 2024, with a possibility to extend. Backup care is needed for a minimum of 4 hours per day and can fall on any day between Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-5:30pm. Those applying do not need to be available for all requests, but must understand that there are no guaranteed hours for this position.
The client enjoys talking about pop culture, doing crossword puzzles, and reading. She is diabetic, follows a diabetic diet, and has a history of a stroke that causes left arm weakness. She is allergic to iodine, has a slight speech slur, and has visual impairment causing difficulty seeing fine print.
The client uses a 2 lb. cane while walking and a wheelchair for longer distances which can fit into a standard-sized trunk. She wears adult Depends and may require assistance changing them occasionally. She has a history of seizures and the caregiver will need to assist with checking her insulin levels sugar should this occur; the family is open to providing training on this if needed. There will be times where Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, or cleaners are in the home. The candidate will primarily be involved in escorting the patient to her medical appointments. A great candidate will show compassion, be patient, polite, and attentive.

- End date: June 2024, possibility to extend
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm; intermittent
- Compensation: $28 per hour gas reimbursement when driving the client
Upcoming dates & times needed:
- Monday, February 26th, 8:30am-12:30pm
- Wednesday, March 6th, 8:00am-12:00pm
- Wednesday, March 27th, 9:30am-1:30pm
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assisting the client with taking sugar as needed
- Assistance with dressing the client & changing depends
- Medication reminders
- Driving client to doctor's appointments; the furthest distance is ~12 miles
- Heating up meals for the client; no cooking required
- Engaging with the client
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of paid professional caregiving experience
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
- Must be UTD on CPR certification or willing to renew
- Must have a reliable vehicle to transport client; will receive gas reimbursement when driving the client
- Must have a clean driving record; Motor Vehicle Report will be checked
- Must speak English
