DESCRIPTION:
The Manager, Strategic Planning performs project work of a generally complex nature, with responsibility for oversight of strategic planning analysis. Project assignments includes leading and managing strategic planning projects, supporting environmental assessments and market research, assessing strategic implications on the organization and marketplace, preparing reports and proposing recommendations for internal and external customers. The Manager coordinates work with other strategic support services areas such as analytics, finance, facilities, transformation, and marketing. The manager facilitates and oversees team assignments, supervises tasks of outside consultants, student interns and other support staff assigned and project resources as they pertain to projects assigned to the Manager. The Manager communicates regularly and often works one-on-one with senior leadership on a wide variety of topics and/or projects. Critical thinking, problem solving, analytical approach, relationship building, flexibility, innovation, and creativity are necessary characteristics.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage projects of assigned clients for key Strategic Planning functions including:
- Supports the Strategic Planning process including providing strategic analysis and recommendations by working with key stakeholders to create and update feasible and sustainable approaches.
- Creates market analysis reports and environmental assessments to provide input in key organizational decisions.
- Evaluates strategic growth opportunities across clinical services including outpatient and key specialties.
- Performs Quantitative and Qualitative Research (as appropriate).
- Supports Certificate of Need Applications, Advocacy and Compliance (as appropriate).
- Supports development of business plans for growth opportunities and investments.
- Follows and reports out on key healthcare news and trends both nationally and locally and applies this information to strategic growth opportunity analysis.
- Effectively collaborates with key stakeholders including other strategic support service areas (ie, Finance, Facilities, Analytics, Transformation, Ambulatory, Service Line and hospital leaders) to create comprehensive multidisciplinary recommendations for executive leadership.
- Independently leads and facilitates assigned projects, in collaboration with team members and customers.
- Perform day-to-day management of multiple projects for several assigned clients, prioritizing projects and delivering work product within clearly defined timelines.
- Demonstrates to others the incorporation of HFHS Team and Leader Standards and Mission, Vision and Values in daily activities.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in business or healthcare administration or related field required.
- Master's degree in business or healthcare administration or related field or equivalent experience, preferred.
- Five or more years of experience in cross functional/business areas in healthcare or other planning and business development areas.
- Familiarity with key issues in healthcare, and have the ability to relate their impact to the organization is preferred.
- Must have excellent organizational skills and communication skills and be guided by a compelling "client/customer" orientation.
- Experience with managing large, complex projects.
- Outstanding analytical, problem solving and interpersonal/relationship building skills are required.
- Computer skills are essential and include word, excel, PowerPoint, mapping, and other relevant software packages. Ability to take complex analysis and visualize the analysis in presentation or other formats for the audience to understand.
- Ability to create summary presentations and excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
