Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of the Asian American Cultural Center, the primary responsibility of this position is to assist in the development, implementation and coordination of education programs, services and activities for the AACC that educate and promote a campus-wide understanding of Asian / Asian American cultures and that enhance Asian American and Asian international students' experiences.
Duties & Responsibilities
Cultural Programming
- Assist in developing programs that foster cultural awareness and social justice.
- Assist in developing programs that support Asian / Asian American students' experiences.
- Collaborate with campus and community partners to develop programs and services.
Capacity-Building and Outreach
- Coordinate support for student organizations and student leadership development
- Serve on committees focused on enhancing Asian / Asian American students' experience on campus.
Marketing and communications
Assist in marketing and communication (eg, social media, electronic newsletter, website, calendars, tours, resource fairs).
Supervision
Assist in the recruitment and supervision of student volunteers and student staff.
Additional Physical Demands
Office position that requires evening and weekend work hours, and some travel is occasionally required.
Minimum Qualifications
Education :
Bachelor's degree.
Experience :
A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and / or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position.
Note : Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
- Demonstrated experience focused on Asian / Asian American students' experiences.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating cultural, social, educational, and / or social justice programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Education :
Master's degree, preferably in higher education administration, college student personnel, counseling, or related field.
Experience :
- Experience supporting students and student organizations.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy, problem solving, professional boundaries, and conflict resolution skills.
- Experience with marketing and communications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated customer service skills, interpersonal and organizational skills
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 6 / 10 / 2024.
Starting salary for this position is $50,000.
