What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Supervisor position at Heritage MGA LLC?

Job Summary:

Oversees accounting operations to include U.S. GAAP and Statutory accounting, accounts payable, lease accounting, treasury, and cash projections. Monitors and approves journal entries, daily invoices, monthly reconciliations, and reporting in accordance with accounting, operational, and financial standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors transaction entries for completeness and accuracy.
  • Reviews and manages entity level cashflow projections and discusses changes and results with Chief Accounting Officer and Controller as needed.
  • Approves cash disbursements by verifying check amounts against invoices, approval status and vendor information.
  • Prepares and analyzes assigned balance sheet reconciliations monthly.
  • Maintains financial security by adhering to internal controls.
  • Supports audit processes by providing information and answers to auditors.
  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Prepares and files letters and payments for unclaimed property.
  • Assists with quarterly and annual audits as needed.
  • Assigns duties, monitors quality of work, provides guidance and oversight of subordinates.
  • Conducts timely performance reviews and feedback sessions.
  • Interviews, hires, and trains new team members as necessary.
  • Communicates with co-workers, management, clients, vendors, and others as needed in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Maintains the integrity of the company and products offered by complying with federal and state regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • 2 years of experience leading or managing a team.
  • Proficiency with Excel and Word programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Results driven with strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities effectively.
  • Very detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
