Business Overview:
The HP Specialty Printing & Technology Solutions (SPTS) business leverages existing Thermal Inkjet (TIJ) technology that it markets and sells to OEMs who develop specialty printers for a unique field-of-use outside of HP’s core markets. The OEM in turn markets and sells their specialty printer under their own brand, and may license HP trademark for support. These HP technologies and components encompass TIJ 4.0, TIJ 2.5, and TIJ 2.X technologies for multiple world-wide market segments including Coding & Marking, Postage metering & Mail addressing, Direct Mail, Specialty Packaging & Label printing, and Transaction printing. SPTS also develops Life Science dispensers which use TIJ technology to jet chemical agents for life science discovery.
Role Description:
This Product Life Cycle Marketing Manager role will be focused on Future Product Marketing for the Coding & Marking segment, the largest and fastest growing segment for SPTS. The role is responsible to create a market and customer driven business case which could be addressed by future inks and/or TIJ 4 technologies, define the new product performance specifications, validate product concept with customers for viability, then work with a cross-functional team through the NPI process, from Strategic Intent (SI) to Manufacturing Release (MR). The role will also lead marketing elements of Gen 5 TIJ technology programs. The role interacts regularly with customers, other Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Operations departments and Finance to assess/analyze market opportunities, define and launch new products, set pricing, and successfully hand-off to Current Product Marketing.

Responsibilities:
Become the subject matter expert on Coding & Marking market segment and applications, and associated printing technologies, components, inks, including competitive printing technologies
Identify new or adjacent market opportunities and applications that could leverage existing or modified TIJ technology components.
Responsible for the market assessment for new aqueous and solvent inks, which could become marketing lead for new product definition and development
Conduct market assessment for simple TIJ 2.5 or more sophisticated TIJ 4 bulk solutions, which could become marketing lead for new product definition and development
Determine pricing strategy for NPIs within context of overall Coding and Marking portfolio
Conduct competitive technology and competitive pricing analyses, with support from Market Research & Competitive Intelligence lead
Construct complex financial modeling to address many variables and sensitivities. Use results to create a business case and justify investments
Frame and lead strategic business decisions, make defensible recommendations supported by data and cross-functional input
Conduct customer research, trade-off options, and prioritization, working through Sales/Account managers
Develop and update detailed market requirement document (MRD), define new products across multiple vectors, and prioritize necessary trade-offs to optimize the final product
Identify new markets and propose new fields of use to Division Executives
Own and lead Marketing deliverables for NPI checkpoints and presentations
Own and lead Financial deliverables (P&L) for NPI checkpoints and presentations
Create content for marketing materials and product launch, including sell against tools for Sales
Create plan for product Development Kits
Co-own new product roadmap with R&D
Education & Experience Required:
Bachelors degree in Business Management, Marketing, or other relevant field. MBA a plus
> 10 years of hands-on Marketing or Product Development/Management experience
Knowledge and experience with inks and/or TIJ printheads
Business/Market analysis experience
Knowledge & Skills Required:
Excellent strategic thinking and analysis skillset
High attention to detail
Confident and comfortable with Financial/Pricing modelling to develop a solid business case
Confident and comfortable interacting with customers in person and on phone
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong follow-thru and follow-up
Ability to clearly present complex ideas to Executive level management
Solid skills with Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and Power Point
Proven ability to effectively work within a cross-functional team
