We are currently seeking an experienced Field Services Engineer on a permanent full-time basis to join our team based in Mongolia and working on a Fly-In Fly-Out basis at one of our major clients (Oyu Tolgoi).
Specific Duties
- To ensure HxGN, Mine Operation systems at customer mine sites operate effectively and deliver tangible value to our customers mining operations
- To provide training, instruction and advice to our customers on the effective use and operation of HxGN Mine Operation systems
- To repair, install, configure, commission and support electronic, microprocessor-based systems and radio communications equipment including issue identification and resolution for equipment based on our customer mine sites and on HxGN’s premises
- Primary focus will be MineProtect Collision Avoidance System (CAS) and Vehicle Intervention System (VIS)
Major Areas of Responsibility
- Supporting HxGN mine operation system products and systems both on site work within our customer’s mining operations and on HxGN premises
- Identifying problems with HxGN mine operation systems installed at customer mine sites and repairing / replacing / re-configuring equipment as required
- Installing, loading software, configuring, commissioning, etc for new systems and for system upgrades
- Taking ownership and responsibility for customer issues and problems and seeing them through to resolution wherever possible
- Communicating directly with customers and assisting to manage HxGN’s relationships with our customers
- Analysing data generated by the CAS & VIS systems and making recommendations on improvements and optimisations
- Representing HxGN in a helpful, professional and courteous manner at all times
- Providing training to operators and other customer personnel in the use and operation of HxGN mine operation systems at customer sites
- Utilising relationships developed with customers and other contacts to advise sales and account management team of potential issues affecting customers as well as other opportunities for HxGN
- Completing reporting and documentation requirements (e.g. activity reports / site logs, stock tracking, fault and issue logs) in a timely manner
- Compliance with HxGN’s Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures (and those of client site), participation in audits and compliance with instructions given in respect to the health and safety of himself / herself and the safety of others
- Perform quality workmanship in line with HxGN internal training and the Installation Project Manager
- Direct and collaborate with sub-contractors and other vendors who are part of the overall technology solution stack
- Provide Level 3 after hours support for critical systems
Skills and Experience Required
Education/Credentials
- Good written and verbal English language skills
- Year 12 Senior Certificate or equivalent
- Trade certificate or equivalent in Electronics, Industrial Electronics, Instrumentation, Communications or Automotive Electrician
- Manual car drivers’ licence
- Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering degree or diploma desirable
Experience
- Demonstrated customer service experience
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing electronics systems
- Demonstrated work experience on remote site installation, system configuration, commissioning, troubleshooting and repair
- Background in industries such as electronics, radio, television, automotive, mining or similar
- Substantial demonstrated experience in supporting, diagnosing and troubleshooting diverse and varied environments with a particular focus on electronic / electrical repairs

- Keen interest in providing a superior level of customer service and support to our clients
- Willingness to learn new skills and be trained in HxGN’s electronic products
- Ability to work proactively with minimal supervision

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Mechanical aptitude
- Strong computing skills (firmware and software loading and management, troubleshooting, administration tasks and email)
- Basic knowledge / understanding of LANs, WANs, working with Command Line Interface

Travel
This position involves regular travel to the client mine site and limited overseas for training, support and deployment of HxGN’s products in the field. Travel time to and from site will be in addition to the standard hours required to work on site.
Salary : $2,500,000 - $3,000,000
