Position: Quality Engineer

Position Summary
To initiate, establish, sustain, and improve methods for controlling and improving the quality and integrity of all systems, processes, and procedures related to the design and manufacturing of rubber compounds. To review and approve daily lab testing of produced material to ensure that it meets internal and external specifications.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Develop, document, implement and validate robust corrective actions with cross-functional teams that eliminate the causes of product and process nonconformities, especially customer complaints.
Maintenance of existing ISO: 9001:2015 quality system with the focus on the HEXPOL’s quality objectives.
Manage the nonconforming material process from identification through disposition.
Drive continual quality improvement focused on improved customer satisfaction, exceeding quality objectives and reducing quality costs using systematic quality and/or six sigma tools within the framework of HEXPOL’s strategic initiatives
Analyze process and test data to determine and improve process capability.
Create and develop all related documentation (warrant, MSAs, FMEA, control plans) or PPAP submission.
Represent HEXPOL during audits of the quality system by customers or third-party certification/registration agencies.
Perform internal and external audits as required as assure compliance with ISO9001, HEXPOL and customer requirements. Oversee the Layered Process Audit (LPA) program. Complete GEMBA walks, for audits, identify and address issues on the manufacturing floor.
Support Purchasing in the development of our supply base and ensure all specifications are met
Support any quality test laboratory activities including the reduction of variation in measurement systems.
Manage the location personnel in training and enforcement of quality procedures, inspection methods, quality control and other quality assurance methods
Direct the supervision of Lab Technicians and Quality team personnel.
Perform any other project/task as assigned by Management.
Education, Skills and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other related fields degrees. Significant experience in Quality Engineering may be considered in lieu of education.
Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, desired
Seven (7) years’ manufacturing experience in Quality and/or Manufacturing Engineering positions.
Five (5) years’ experience in any rubber manufacturing or custom compounding environment, preferred.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Excellent computer/systems skills – MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook).
Excellent cooperation, collaboration skills and team-building skills.
Ability to interact well with all personality types.
Solid organizational skills and prioritization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines, and manage a broad range of responsibilities.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
High degree of concentration with attention to detail, high energy, self-motivated and self-reliant.
Ability to supervise, coach and develop Associates.
Physical Requirements – the physical requirements of the Quality Engineer position required in an 8-hour workday.

Physical demands for this position include the ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday depending on the tasks at hand. This position requires sitting and viewing a computer screen for periods of time. Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. may be required.
